Indian Blue (PB15)

 

Indian Blue is a French produced, synthetically produced, organic pigment. The pigment belongs to the group of the so-called phthalocyanines, which are characterized by their strong, pure blue and green colors, and which are distinguished by their color power and opacity.

 

Indian blue has a clear, blue color with a rather light greenish undertone. The pigment is light and fine-grained and can advantageously be processed in mortars or similarly in the preferred medium.

 

Lightfastness

 

4-5 (where 1 is poor, 8 is best)

 

Color power

 

Good.

 

Miscibility with other colors

 

The pigment can be mixed with all other colors.

 

Binders

 

Can be used with all binders. In aqueous mixtures, it is recommended to make a color paste with 1 part isopropyl alcohol to 1 part water in order to better stir the pigment in the paint.

 

Areas of application

 

Primarily for indoor use and in artist colors.

 

Safety

 

The pigment is described as non-toxic. However, it is always advisable to use a dust mask when working with pigments.
