Omega Blue (PB15)

 

The pigment is a synthetically produced, copper-containing organic dye, which belongs to the group of phthalocyanines, which are distinguished by high color strength and opacity. These pigments were developed in the 30s and it is in this group that we find the strong clear blue and green colors. Omega Blue has a clear, clean color with a cool tone. When mixed with white, it approaches the azure blue. The pigment is quite fine-grained and can advantageously be processed in mortars or similarly in the desired medium. The pigment is quite light and fluffy.

 

The pigment is light, lime, water and oily.

 

Lightfastness

 

4-5 (on a scale where 1 is poor, 8 is best.

 

Color power

 

Very good.

 

Miscibility with other colors

 

The pigment can be mixed with all other colors.

 

Binders

 

The pigment can be mixed with all binders. In aqueous mixtures, it is recommended to make a color paste with 1 part isopropyl alcohol to 1 part water in order to be able to further process the pigment.

 

Areas of application

 

The pigment is used primarily indoors and for artist colors.

 

Safety

 

The pigment is described as non-toxic. However, it is always advisable to use a dust mask when working with pigments.
