Red Porte

Red porto is a mixture of mineral and organic pigments, which together give a very clear, pure red color, which quite easily touches pink. The pigment is a more lightfast variant of the red pigment, Lithol Red, which Mark Rothko used in his paintings in the 60s. Due to the low lightfastness of the original pigment (Lithol Red), the colors of the paintings changed dramatically when hung in brightly lit rooms.

The pigment is light and very fine-grained.

Areas of application

The pigment is used primarily indoors and for artist colors. Outdoor use is not recommended.
